PO-04-233 MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACHES TO TREAT VENTRICULAR ARRHYTHMIAS WITH RADIOABLATION AND CARDIAC SYMPATHECTOMY (MAVERICS)

چکیده

Ventricular arrhythmias (VAs) are the most lethal arrhythmias. Established therapies to prevent occurrence of VAs include anti-arrhythmic drugs (AADs) and catheter ablation (CA). For patients with recurrent despite AADs CA, there exist novel treatment modalities such as cardiac sympathetic denervation (CSD) via percutaneous surgical approach stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). The current study reports outcomes CSD SBRT from a tertiary care academic center. To report for refractory conventional CA. Study comprises all undergoing or at our center 10/2018 10/2021. Patients less than 2 months available follow-up data were excluded. Retrospective chart review was performed collate demographics, clinical characteristics, arrhythmia burden before after (maximum 12 months), complications during period. Burden in form episodes anti-tachycardia pacing (ATP) defibrillator shocks per month assessed primary efficacy outcome. Complications safety Overall, 25 underwent VAs. Thirteen excluded due insufficient follow up data. Of included patients, total 4, 5, 3 SBRT, CSD, both CSD/SBRT, respectively. Median age population 66 years (55-72). majority (10/12) male. left ventricular ejection fraction 30% (25%-34%). Eight had non-ischemic cardiomyopathy. number CA prior (2-5) 1 (0-2), Follow median (12-12) (9-12) intervention. 11 demonstrated reduction VA burden. Mean ATP shock significantly lower (39±43 vs 3±6; p= 0.008). No procedure-related observed Incorporation is associated reduced this single study. Further studies warranted validate these findings.

Therapies for ventricular cardiac arrhythmias.

During recent years, engineers and physicists have become increasingly interested in studying the electrical activity of the heart. Despite the fact that the heart is a complex and highly nonlinear system, its electrical behavior can be studied using a variety of experimental and clinical techniques, and can be modeled mathematically using relatively simple systems of differential equations, al...

Computational approaches to understand cardiac electrophysiology and arrhythmias.

Cardiac rhythms arise from electrical activity generated by precisely timed opening and closing of ion channels in individual cardiac myocytes. These impulses spread throughout the cardiac muscle to manifest as electrical waves in the whole heart. Regularity of electrical waves is critically important since they signal the heart muscle to contract, driving the primary function of the heart to a...

Computers and arrhythmias: computational approaches to understanding cardiac electrical dynamics

Heart disease is one of the most prevalent diseases in the world and is the leading cause of death in industrialized countries. In the United States alone, cardiovascular disease affects about 68 million people, roughly 25% of the total population, from both sexes, and all races and ages, and costs an estimated $117 billion annually. It is currently believed that most dangerous cardiac arrhythm...

Cardiac Arrhythmia 3 Ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death

Management strategies for ventricular arrhythmias are guided by the risk of sudden death and severity of symptoms. Patients with a substantial risk of sudden death usually need an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). Although ICDs effectively end most episodes of ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation and decrease mortality in specific populations of patients, they have in...
